17 and Counting: Sarpsborg 08 Women Storm On at Home

Sarpsborg 08's women's team extended their unbeaten run to 17 straight league matches with a 5-0 home win over Brann 2 at Sarpsborg Stadion on 21 September. The champions are in stunning form, having already wrapped up the title before this fixture was even played.

Women's Team Extends Record Run at Sarpsborg Stadion

While the men's side endured a tough Friday on home turf, the women of Sarpsborg 08 delivered an emphatic performance at Sarpsborg Stadion just days earlier. On Monday 21 September, they hosted Brann 2 in a morning kick-off and won 5-0, extending their extraordinary unbeaten league run to 17 consecutive matches.

The result continued what has become a historic sequence for the women's team, who have now gone an entire season without dropping points in the league. The commanding scoreline in front of the home crowd underlined just how dominant Sarpsborg 08 women have been throughout the campaign.

Champions of Their Division

The victory was all the sweeter given the wider context: Sarpsborg 08 women had already been confirmed as league champions before this fixture, after their rivals Sandefjord dropped points earlier in the same matchday. A 5-1 away win had mathematically sealed the title, and the Sarpsborg Stadion crowd was able to celebrate with a team that has been the class of the division all year.

With the title secured and the record run continuing, the mood around Sarpsborg Stadion is one of pride and celebration for the women's side — a sharp contrast to the frustration that followed the men's defeat to KFUM Oslo.

A Club Riding High on the Women's Side

The success of the women's team has brought additional buzz to Sarpsborg Stadion in recent weeks. Club officials have highlighted the achievement as a landmark moment for the organisation, with the women's programme firmly establishing itself as one of the leading forces in Norwegian women's football at its level.
