Sarpsborg 08 returned from their away trip to Viking on Saturday 8 August with three points in the bag, edging the league leaders in what proved to be a tight Eliteserien contest. The narrow victory lifted the club to seventh place in the table and arrived at exactly the right moment — with the stadium's most demanding home stretch of the season now approaching fast.
The result keeps Sarpsborg 08 firmly in the mix in the upper half of the division as the campaign enters its decisive second phase.
Sarpsborg Stadion Braces for a Packed Fortnight
Attention now turns firmly to home soil. The first fixture back at Sarpsborg Stadion is a Matchday 18 Eliteserien clash against Sandefjord on Sunday 16 August, with kick-off at 15:00. It will be the first home match in nearly three weeks, following consecutive away trips to Molde and Viking, and demand for tickets has been strong.
The ground — which holds around 7,500 supporters — has already staged a number of sold-out matches in 2026, and the Sandefjord fixture is expected to draw another sizeable crowd eager to celebrate the away win in person.
