Cup Derby and Girls' Festival Light Up Sarpsborg Stadion in August
Sarpsborg Stadion hosts a Norwegian Football Cup city derby against Sparta Sarpsborg on 22–23 August, followed by a Girls' Football Festival on 23 August. The back-to-back events make the final week of August the busiest — and most community-focused — stretch of the stadium's 2026 calendar.
A Derby on Home Soil
Sarpsborg Stadion is set to host a Norwegian Football Cup first-round tie against local rivals Sparta Sarpsborg on 22–23 August 2026. The city derby adds an extra dimension to an already packed month at the stadium, coming just days after Sunday's Eliteserien clash with Sandefjord.
Derbies between the two Sarpsborg clubs are always charged occasions, and a home cup tie gives Sarpsborg 08 the chance to progress in front of their own supporters.
Community Football Also on the Agenda
Alongside the competitive football, Sarpsborg Stadion is also set to host a Girls' Football Festival on Sunday 23 August. Organised in partnership with Allidrettsdagen and Sarpsborg Idrettsråd, the event is a community celebration of the women's and girls' game in the city — a reminder that the stadium serves a purpose well beyond matchday for the wider Sarpsborg football community.
Stadium at the Centre of the Region's Football Life
With three home events pencilled in across a single week in late August, Sarpsborg Stadion is firmly at the heart of football life in Østfold. The venue, which holds around 7,500 supporters and features a 105 × 68 metre artificial pitch, has already staged several sold-out occasions during the 2026 season.
The busy schedule underlines the stadium's growing role as a hub not just for top-flight football, but for grassroots and community sport in the region. Vålerenga's Eliteserien visit on 7 September will round off what promises to be the most memorable home run of the year.
