Cup Derby and Girls' Festival Make for a Historic Sarpsborg Weekend
Sarpsborg Stadion hosts a Norwegian Football Cup local derby against Sparta Sarpsborg on 22–23 August, followed immediately by a Girls' Football Festival on 23 August. The double-header, organised in partnership with Allidrettsdagen and Sarpsborg Idrettsråd, marks the centrepiece of the stadium's busiest home spell of the 2026 season. It is a weekend that blends elite competition with grassroots celebration.
A Weekend of Football for All
Sarpsborg Stadion is set to play host to one of the most community-focused weekends in its calendar on 22–23 August. The main attraction is a Norwegian Football Cup first-round derby against local rivals Sparta Sarpsborg — a fixture that reliably brings extra noise, colour and passion to the terraces.
The cup tie falls in the middle of a packed three-week home schedule and gives Sarpsborg 08 the chance to bounce back from their recent Eliteserien defeat to Sandefjord in front of a partisan crowd.
Girls Take Centre Stage
Running alongside the cup derby, Sarpsborg Stadion will on Sunday 23 August host a Girls' Football Festival — a community celebration of the women's and girls' game in the city, organised in partnership with Allidrettsdagen and Sarpsborg Idrettsråd.
The event signals the stadium's role not just as a venue for elite football, but as a hub for grassroots sport in the region. It is the kind of occasion that brings families and young players through the gates and builds the next generation of supporters.
A Landmark Fortnight for the Venue
Taken together, the cup derby and the Girls' Football Festival make this one of the most significant weekends Sarpsborg Stadion has staged in 2026. The 7,500-capacity ground, with its 105×68-metre artificial pitch, is firmly at the heart of the city's sporting life this August.
With a league fixture against Vålerenga still to follow on 7 September, the energy around the stadium shows no sign of letting up before the international break. Tickets for home fixtures are available through the club's official channels.
