A Defeat That Stings, But a Season That Rolls On
Sarpsborg 08 FF suffered a 1–2 home defeat to Sandefjord Fotball in Eliteserien Round 18, played at Sarpsborg Stadion on Sunday 16 August. It was the club's first home fixture since late July, and despite the result, the match marked the opening act of the most intensive spell of home football the stadium will have seen all season.
The loss to Sandefjord was a bitter pill for supporters who had waited several weeks for competitive action back on home turf. Yet the defeat does little to diminish the significance of the weeks that lie immediately ahead.
Three Weeks, Three Home Games
The Eliteserien clash was only the first of three home fixtures scheduled across three consecutive weeks — the busiest home run Sarpsborg Stadion has faced in the entire 2026 campaign.
Next up is a Norwegian Football Cup local derby against FK Sparta Sarpsborg, pencilled in for 22 August, a fixture that historically generates one of the most charged atmospheres inside the stadium. That is followed by an Eliteserien meeting with Vålerenga on 7 September, rounding off a fortnight of near-constant action at the ground.

Girls' Football Festival Adds Community Colour
Off the pitch, Sarpsborg Stadion is also set to host a Girls' Football Festival on Sunday 23 August, organised in partnership with Allidrettsdagen and Sarpsborg Idrettsråd. The event is a community celebration of the women's and girls' game in the city, and adds further occasion to what is already shaping up as the most eventful and exciting stretch of the 2026 season at the ground.
Sarpsborg Stadion holds an official capacity of around 7,500 supporters and features a 105×68-metre artificial pitch.
