Million-Krone Grant and Girls' Festival Mark Historic Week at Sarpsborg
Sarpsborg 08 FF have been awarded a one-million-krone Jenter i Spill grant to support girls' football in the region, the club announced on 27 August. The news caps a landmark week that also saw Sarpsborg Stadion host a Girls' Football Festival on 23 August, organised alongside a Norwegian Cup local derby.

Sarpsborg 08 FF were awarded a one-million-krone grant under the Jenter i Spill (Girls in Play) initiative, the club announced on 27 August 2026. The funding underlines the club's commitment to growing the women's and girls' game in the Sarpsborg region.
The grant announcement came just days after the club hosted a Girls' Football Festival at Sarpsborg Stadion on Sunday 23 August, organised in partnership with Allidrettsdagen and Sarpsborg Idrettsråd.
Community football at the heart of the stadium
The Girls' Football Festival turned Sarpsborg Stadion into a community celebration of women's and girls' football in the city, adding a vibrant off-pitch dimension to what was already the stadium's busiest weekend of the year.
The event coincided with the Norwegian Football Cup derby against local rivals Sparta Sarpsborg, meaning the stadium hosted both a competitive cup tie and a community festival across the same weekend — a landmark occasion for the venue.
Looking ahead
With the Jenter i Spill funding now secured, Sarpsborg 08 are positioned to expand grassroots programmes for young female players in the area. The club has also confirmed STØY Festivalen as a new gold-level commercial partner, announced on 17 August, signalling continued investment both on and off the pitch.
The next away fixture for Sarpsborg 08 is at Tromsø on Sunday 30 August, before the team returns to Sarpsborg Stadion to face Vålerenga on 7 September.
