Sarpsborg Stadion is in the thick of its busiest home run of the 2026 season, with an Eliteserien clash against Sandefjord already played and a Norwegian Cup local derby against Sparta Sarpsborg up next. A Girls' Football Festival has also been announced at the ground on 23 August, making it a landmark fortnight for the venue.
The Busiest Home Spell of 2026 Begins
Sarpsborg Stadion returned to the heart of the Eliteserien action on Sunday 16 August as Sarpsborg 08 FF welcomed Sandefjord Fotball for Round 18 of the season. It was the club's first home fixture since late July — an extended absence that had sharpened appetite among the home faithful.
The match formed the opening act of the most intense three-week home programme the stadium has seen all year, with two further home fixtures to follow in quick succession.
Viking Scalp Adds Extra Buzz
Sarpsborg 08 arrived at the Sandefjord tie on the back of a confidence-boosting away result, having edged league leaders Viking FK 2–1 at Lyse Arena in Round 17 on 8 August. That win — against a Viking side sitting top of the Eliteserien — lifted spirits heading into the home stretch.
Transfermarkt data shows the Round 18 result at Sarpsborg Stadion ended 1–2 to Sandefjord, a setback for the home side despite the pre-match momentum.
Cup Derby and Community Festival on the Horizon
The defeat does little to dampen what remains a packed schedule at the ground. A Norwegian Football Cup first-round derby against local rivals Sparta Sarpsborg is pencilled in for 22–23 August, a fixture that historically lifts the atmosphere inside the stadium considerably.
Also announced for Sunday 23 August is a Girls' Football Festival at the ground, organised in partnership with Allidrettsdagen and Sarpsborg Idrettsråd — a community celebration of the women's and girls' game in the city. Rounding off the run, Vålerenga visit in the league on 7 September.

Tickets for upcoming home fixtures are on sale now through the club's official channels. Sarpsborg Stadion holds an official capacity of around 7,500 supporters and features a 105×68-metre artificial pitch. The venue has already hosted several sell-out occasions during the 2026 campaign, and with a cup derby and a top-half league side still to come, further full houses are firmly on the cards.
