Sarpsborg 08 FF returned from Stavanger with all three points after beating league leaders Viking FK in Round 17 of the Eliteserien on 8 August 2026. The result leaves the club in seventh place in the table with 22 points from 16 games, level on points with Brann and HamKam.
The win at Lyse Arena was no formality. Viking held a strong head-to-head record against Sarpsborg 08 going into the fixture, having won six of the sides' previous meetings. Grinding out a result there gives Morten Giæver's squad a real confidence boost ahead of a packed home schedule.

After the Sandefjord fixture, Sarpsborg Stadion will next host Vålerenga on 7 September — meaning the two fixtures form the spine of an extended home run that supporters have been eagerly anticipating all summer.
A Bumper Autumn at the Stadium
The coming weeks represent the busiest home spell of the 2026 season for Sarpsborg Stadion. As well as the Eliteserien matches, a Girls' Football Festival has been announced at the ground for Sunday 23 August, organised in partnership with Allidrettsdagen and Sarpsborg Idrettsråd — offering a community celebration of the women's and girls' game in the city.
