Sandefjord, Sparta and Vålerenga: Sarpsborg Stadion's Big Weeks Ahead
Sarpsborg Stadion is gearing up for one of its most intense spells of the 2026 season. A home Eliteserien match against Sandefjord on 16 August is followed by a Norwegian Cup tie against local rivals Sparta Sarpsborg just days later, with Vålerenga still to come in September.
A Busy Autumn Calendar Taking Shape
Sarpsborg Stadion — home of Sarpsborg 08 FF since the club's founding in 2008 — is heading into one of its most packed stretches of the 2026 season. With the Eliteserien campaign entering its second half, the ground has already hosted a sold-out local derby and a Girls' Football Festival this summer.
The next home fixture at the stadium is a league clash against Sandefjord, scheduled for 16 August at 15:00. It will be the first home match in nearly three weeks, following back-to-back away trips to Molde and Viking.
Cup Tie Against Local Rivals on the Horizon
Beyond the Sandefjord match, supporters have an even more eagerly anticipated occasion to look forward to. Sarpsborg Stadion is set to host a Norwegian Football Cup first-round tie against local rivals Sparta Sarpsborg, pencilled in for 22–23 August. A cup clash between two clubs from the same city rarely fails to raise the temperature inside the ground.
A further Eliteserien home fixture against Vålerenga is scheduled for 7 September, meaning the stadium could see three high-profile occasions within the space of three weeks.
The Stadium's Role in the Community
Sarpsborg Stadion, with an official capacity of 8,022 and an artificial turf surface measuring 105 by 68 metres, is owned and operated by Sarpsborg 08 themselves. The club handles all maintenance and development of the facility.
This season the ground has already proven its worth as a community hub, hosting the Girls' Football Festival in July alongside the regular Eliteserien programme. With the fixture list growing busier by the week, the stadium looks set to remain the heartbeat of football in Sarpsborg through the autumn.
